Limited Edition Giclee Prints
What is Giclee (zhee-clay)?
The word is French and means a “spray of ink”. Giclée print images are obtained from the highest resolution digital scans and use a highly sophisticated, inkjet method of printing. Archival Epson UltraChrome K3 ink is used on acid free canvas and fine art papers. The giclee printing process provides better colour accuracy than any other means of reproduction and is found in museums, photographic galleries and art galleries. The bottom line is that you get the best quality print that should last a life time, dependant of the environment in which it is displayed.
Limited Edition Prints
A limited edition print is just that, limited. The artist sets a finite quantity eg. 250 prints. They are hand signed (They may be signed in pencil so that it cannot be reproduced) and numbered, and may come in specific print sizes as well. These prints will also come with a certificate of authenticity signed and with the number of the print for eg. 174/250. 174 is the number of that print and 250 is the number of prints for that picture’s edition. . The more limited the edition the rarer and valuable the print.
Authenticity
Authenticity is assures as the artist participates in every step of the creation of the prints and approve the proofs and techniques utilized in their production; each giclée is personally inspected and approved as an authentic and accurate reproduction of the original ). For the purposes of authenticity, prestige and value, each print is autographed and numbered in pencil by the artist. Also each print is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity that acts as the official proof of the print release and all of it's aspects.
Our Giclée Prints shipping & framing
All prints are shipped unframed so that our customers can physically view their print before customizing the frame. It also makes it much safer for shipping and handling to lessen the risk of damage, cracked frames and tears. Not only that it gives you the ability to match your print more exclusively with your décor and increase your framing budget saved on money for freight.
If framing is needed we can arrange this with one of Adelaide’s highly professional picture framers in this field. Extra time and charges will have to be allowed for.
We highly recommend postal insurances are used on all products during delivery.
Care for your print
Giclée prints should be treated with the same care as any piece of fine art. The printed surface should not be touched excessively, as dirt and oils may in the long term damage the image. Prints will also be given a UV protection varnish for added protection. For the best possible protection of prints on paper, have your prints professionally mounted and framed using acid-free mounting materials. Do not hang your print in direct sunlight or strong fluorescent lights. And try not to scratch or rub the print if dusting or handling, for increased longevity.
